American Horror Story, an anthology series on Fx that was created by Ryan Murphy, is always highly anticipated. Season 7 just finished airing a couple of months ago & already we horror fans want to know what the next theme will be.
Murphy started the series with being set in what was dubbed “Murder House.” Other seasons were set in an asylum, freak show, a hotel, & Roanoke. The themes of surrounding the other 2 were a witch’s coven & a cult.
As usual, we get antsy & hope for a glimmer of what the next season will be. Ryan Murphy did not disappoint. Murphy stated that Season 8 will be set in the future. He made the statement while at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour in Pasadena. Of course, in true Ryan Murphy fashion, that is all we get. We do not know whether it will be set in a future that is slightly askew of what we are now, or something along the lines of Terminator. All we do know is that it is sci-fi & the future. All he would say is “I pitched it to [FX chief] John Landgraf today right after his TCA panel, and he loved it, but he’s asked me not to say what it is. I told him and he fell out of his chair with joy. I think people will like it, it’s different from what we’ve done before, but I always try and do the opposite of what I’ve done on that show.” He sure does!
Fans are questioning whether Evan Peters will be part of this upcoming season as he is also doing Murphy’s show Pose. Murphy has said that they will begin writing in February & they will see. He did admit that it would not be the first time that an actor was on 2 of his shows at one time.
For those fans that are eagerly anticipating the Murder House & Coven crossover that was promised to us, it is still coming. That is planned for season 9. Murphy wants to have all the same people who were part of both to be available & right now that is 25 people’s schedules that they have to work around. He wants Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange & all the originals back & they have promised to do so.
The next 2 seasons promise to be great & I look forward to seeing what frights Mr. Murphy has in store for us!
