“Little Women: LA” Christy Gibel is suing the medical team who performed her spinal surgery. Last season viewers may recall Christy undergoing surgery to fix spinal cord compression in her neck.
Christy and her husband, Todd, also shared on the show that during the operation, Christy’s jugular vein was nicked, causing Christy to lose a lot of blood. Viewers could notice a substantial difference in the sound of Christy’s voice in her confessionals. Her voice sounded very muted and raspy, almost as though she were whispering. Some viewers questioned if Christy had suffered a stroke, due to one of her eyes appearing droopy.
In the suit, Christy named physicians practicing at a surgery center, 90210 Surgery Medical Center, as well as Cedars-Sinai and “other private practices”. Christy claims when she underwent her surgery in November 2016 and after post-op visits, the doctors overseeing her care “mislead” her after Christy voiced concerns over developing symptoms. Christy told her doctors that her left eye was drooping, her tongue was swelling, and she was unable to speak for some time. Her doctors assured her the symptoms would lessen as she continued to recover from her procedure; however, the symptoms never lessened. Christy is suing for “negligence and is asking for an unspecified amount in damages”.
I may not have always agreed with Christy’s actions or behavior on “Little Women: LA” but I can definitely understand the reason for her lawsuit. It is quite frustrating when your doctor does not listen to your valid concerns and you are left to suffer the consequences. Hopefully Christy’s health continues to improve and she is able to overcome her botched procedure.
