Vic Damone passed away at the age of 89 while at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, he was surrounded by loved ones.
Most probably don’t know who he is unless your over 50 and Italian.
He was a legendary singer who started at the age of 14 with the help of another great singer Perry Como. They had a chance meeting in an elevator. Vic stopped the elevator between floors and started singing his heart out. Como was very impressed and Vic started on his path to being a legendary singer. Vic was praised by some of the great crooners, Frank Sinatra said, “He had the best pipes in the business.” Vic was part of the 1950’s heartthrobs like Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, and of course Perry Como, and Sinatra. Vic recorded over 2500 songs and his biggest hits were “You’re Breaking My Heart” and “On the Street Where You Live.” He also had a variety show called “The Vic Damone Show.”
RIP Mr. Damone, you’ll be singing with the angels now! Our sincere sympathy and thoughts are with his family.
