The Bravo network has long been known for their drama both on, and in some instances, off the screen. This time it would seem the conflict involves past cast-member of The Real Housewives of New York Jill Zarin and her somewhat confusing relationship with Bravo.
Longtime fans of RHONY likely recall Jill’s four seasons as one of its prominent stars, and every bit as memorable was her on-and-off-and-now-on-again friendship with fellow cast-member, Bethenny Frankel. The feud between the two ladies erupted during the filming of the RHONY allegedly over professional jealousy and competitiveness. The easy comradery the pair once appeared to enjoy seemed to have evaporated for good, hat is until the death of Jill’s husband of 18-years, Bobby Zarin who passed away at the beginning of the year at age of 71 due to cancer. It was this that brought Bethenny hurtling back into Jill’s life with her attendance (complete with a Bravo camera crew) at Bobby’s funeral in mid-January, 2018. In fact, Jill and Bethenny seemed to have somewhat patched up their friendship on the very solemn occasion. An occasion that for many a person would have them putting petty differences in a more sensible perspective. This may well been the case for the two former pals and co-stars.
This bridge-mending for many opened up the very real possibility that Jill would re-enter the Housewives once again in a full-time capacity. It has been reported that Jill has grown weary of the cameos and brief appearances she has made from time-to-time on the RHONY rather than the more prominent role she once held on the show. Although Jill’s name is still at times heavily associated with RHONY with them even using her in the show’s trailer, she showed up in only one episode last season. Friends of Jill have pushed for her to be featured on the reality series on a more regular basis feeling that Bravo is, in essence, taking advantage of Jill without offering her more compensation or airtime. One person who is said to be close to Jill shared that “It’s not about the money, it’s about the respect. To keep [having] her come on the show without any long-term offer — it feels disrespectful.”
They went on to claim that although Jill is reeling from the loss of her husband and thus may not be emotionally ready for a full-time return, it would still be nice to be asked. “…the show means a lot to her,” they stated.
At this point, Bravo seems content on using portions of Jill’s life for their show without making a serious commitment to the former star. Time will tell if this changes, although no doubt there are more than a few fans who would welcome Jill Zarin’s return.
So how do you feel about her being on the show on a regular basis? Sound off and stay tuned!
